President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono inaugurated on Wednesday morning new members of his reshuffled Cabinet, at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
The inauguration commenced at 9 a.m., after which the President delivered a speech on the direction of the government’s policies until 2014.
On Tuesday evening, Yudhoyono announced his new Cabinet lineup.
There are seven new ministers in the new Cabinet, including Law and Human Rights Minister Amir Syamsuddin, Administrative Reforms Minister Azwar Abubakar, Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan and State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan.
The others are Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Syarif Cicip Sutardjo, Public Housing Minister Djan Faridz and Environment Minister Baltazar Kambuaya.
Meanwhile, former trade minister Mari Elka Pangestu has been appointed as the new tourism and creative economy minister, former tourism minister Jero Wacik is now the energy and mineral resources minister, and former environment minister Gusti Muhammad Hatta will from now on serve as the research and technology minister.
The President also inaugurated 10 newly appointed deputy ministers, including deputy education and culture minister (focussing on education) Musliar Kasim, deputy education and culture minister (focussing on cultural affairs) Wiendu Nurhayati, deputy law and human rights minister Denny Indrayana, deputy administrative reforms minister Eko Prasodjo and deputy energy and mineral resources minister Widjajono Partowidagdo.
The remaining members of the new Cabinet include deputy foreign minister Wardana, deputy culture and creative economy minister Sapta Nirwandar, deputy state enterprises minister Mahmudin, deputy health minister Ali Ghufraon and deputy agriculture minister Rusman Heriyawan.
Meanwhile, former deputy coordinating minister for people’s welfare Bayu Krisnamurthi is now the deputy trade minister, and former deputy trade minister Mahendra Siregar has been named the new deputy finance minister.
The President also installed on Wednesday Lt. Gen. Marciano Noorman as the new State Intelligence Agency (BIN) chief.
